Children's Ministry

Children's ministry at Ivy Creek
Children are important at Ivy Creek Church because they are clearly important to our Lord Jesus Christ.  Christ Himself welcomed children in the midst of His ministry, encouraging us by His words and deeds, to welcome and receive them ourselves.  We consider it a privilege to come alongside parents in the discipleship of their children.  Our aim is to give them the truth of the gospel of grace while connecting them to the Church of God through Biblical instruction and meaningful relationships with teachers and friends.  As we invest in their lives, we want them to clearly see their need for God’s saving grace, and to find that true satisfaction lies in knowing, loving, and following their Savior.  We do this mainly through our Sunday school and Children's Worship programs on Sunday mornings, but do offer special events throughout the year, such as Fall Festival, and Vacation Bible School.

During the 8:30 on Sunday morning, there is a nursery for infants through age 3.  At 10 a.m., we offer Sunday School classes for ages 2 (by Sept 1) through 5th grade.  For the 11 a.m. service, there is again a nursery for infants through age 3.  During this service, children ages 4 & 5 are dismissed before the sermon for Children's Worship, a specially designed program to help train them for worship. Children in first grade and older attend worship with their parents.  While we realize this does present some challenges, we believe that there are real benefits for our children in attending worship.  They will not understand all that they see and hear, but in the bits and pieces they gather, they are learning much about the Christian faith.  They are learning how to pray and praise as they watch us; they are learning about the importance of God’s Word as they see us give attention to it, and they are seeing pictures of the grace of God in baptism and the Lord’s Supper.  At Ivy Creek, your children will be well cared for and receive age appropriate Biblical instruction.  Our prayer is that you and your children will see, hear and experience the grace of God as you are with us.
